Enalapril No Prescription

Enalapril is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension and heart failure. It may be prescribed alone or in combination with thiazide diuretics.
The combination of enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide is prescribed to treat high blood pressure. Enalapril is in a class of prescriptions called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by decreasing certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly. Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of prescriptions called diuretics ('water pills'). It works by causing the kidneys to get rid of unneeded water and salt from the body into the urine.

One of the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors that is used to treat hypertension.

Enalapril Contraindications

Enalapril is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to this product and in patients with a history of angioedema related to previous treatment with an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor and in patients with hereditary or idiopathic angioedema

Enalapril Without a Prescription

The combination of enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken with or without food once or twice a day. To help you remember to take enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide, take it around the same time every day.

Enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide controls high blood pressure but does not cure it.

Enalapril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, is a prodrug which, when hydrolyzed by estarases to its active Enalaprilat, is used to treat hypertension and heart failure, to reduce proteinuria and renal disease in patients with nephropathies, and to prevent stroke, myocardial infarction, and cardiac death in high-risk patients. Enalapril and enalaprilat inhibit angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in human subjects and animals. ACE is a peptidyl dipeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensin I to the vasoconstrictor substance, angiotensin II. Angiotensin II also stimulates aldosterone secretion by the adrenal cortex.
